Chemical Dependency Services

Chemical Dependency is a physical and/or psychological addiction characterized by the compulsive use of mood altering drugs. Mood altering drugs include but are not limited to marijuana, sedatives, hallucinogens, opiates, alcohol and narcotics that cause individuals to continue their using behavior while expecting a different outcome after each use. The result of this compulsive use can mean legal difficulties, loss of employment, family dysfunction, and medical / health complications.

Chemical Dependency assessment services are provided to individuals seeking Chemical Dependency treatment services as a result of problems at home, at work, in the family, or in the community due to their use of alcohol or drugs. Persons requesting services are assessed by a Wilkin County Social Worker in Chemical Dependency and are referred to appropriate treatment services when needed.

Wilkin County Family Services can assist residents with an alcohol/drug abuse health assessment process (also known as a Comprehensive Assessment, which consists of: a chemical dependency/drug evaluation; a determination of the need for chemical dependency/drug treatment.

In order to to receive a Comprehensive Assessment, individuals must be a resident of Wilkin County AND be active on a Medical Assistance Health Care Plan through Wilkin County OR have no active health insurance. Wilkin County Family Services does not accept private pay or private health insurance.
