Family Services

As part of county government’s responsibility to provide an array of services, it is the mission of the Wilkin County Family Service Agency to:

  • Provide financial and social services to county residents who meet specific eligibility criteria in an efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Maintain and enhance a professional helping relationship with all individuals whom we serve.
  • Maintain a philosophical attitude as to the importance of keeping families intact, treating clients with respect, and dealing with clients at their level of need.
  • Build and maintain effective community relationships, and develop community support and resources to carry out our mission.

Foster and Respite Care Needed

Foster parents receive support through:

■ Training provided by the Minnesota Child Welfare Training System

■ Foster parents who are members of a team, working together with county case managers and children’s biological families to care for children’s needs. Foster parents may also receive support and guidance from professionals in mental health, educational and medical services based on individual children’s needs.

■ Monthly financial reimbursement for care they provide to foster children.
