2025 Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center

The Wilkin SWCD helped sponsor the 7th and 8th graders from St. Mary's school to attend the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center, Finland, Minnesota, for the week of March 17th – March 21st.   Mrs. Finkral stated, “The students had a great week experiencing the outdoors and learning about how to take care of God’s creation”.  This was St. Mary’s school’s 40th year of attendance at the environmental learning center.

This week-long adventure included classes in winter survival, planetarium and night hikes, Ojibwe snowshoeing, bird watching, rock climbing, ropes course and zip line that the students were both very nervous and excited about.

Experiencing Wolf Ridge is an excellent way for students to grow more in their knowledge of the outdoors and promote self-awareness and leadership development in the process.

Founded in 1971, Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center is 2,000 acres of forest for the students to explore and was the first environmental learning center in the nation to be accredited as a K-12 school and is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in environmental education.
