Wolf Ridge ELC
2026 Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center
The Wilkin SWCD helped sponsor the 7th and 8th graders from St. Mary's school to attend the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center, Finland, Minnesota, for the week of March 16th – March 20th. Mrs. Finkral stated, “The students had an awesome time at Wolf Ridge ELC! The students were challenged through various indoor/outdoor activities and shown grit, determination and perseverance." This was St. Mary’s school’s 41st year of attendance at the environmental learning center.
This week-long adventure included classes in winter survival, a ropes course, rock climbing, and night hiking.
Experiencing Wolf Ridge is an excellent way for students to grow in their knowledge of the outdoors and promote self-awareness and leadership development in the process.
Founded in 1971, Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center is 2,000 acres of forest for the students to explore and was the first environmental learning center in the nation to be accredited as a K-12 school and is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in environmental education.
