What is Family Home Visiting?
Family Home Visiting Programs are available at no cost to families. We offer pregnant and parenting families home visits by a registered nurse who can provide support, information, and referrals to community resources. We provide education and tools that help promote an enjoyable parent-child relationship, and encourage healthy social-emotional and physical development of the child.
Family home visiting is a voluntary, home-based services that is usually delivered prenatally through the early years of a child's life. Some examples of services that families may receive is: connections/referrals for pregnant women, early support for parents, helping create a safe and healthy environment for children to thrive in, and parenting skills and support that decrease the risk of child abuse.
Depending on the end goal that is developed by the family and the provider, a family may work with a home visitor from birth up to the child's second birthday. With family home visiting parents and caregivers learn how to improve their family's health and provide better opportunities for their children.
