General Information

An elected board of five Supervisors governs Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) in Minnesota.  Each board member represents a district within the County, and each district is defined by municipal boundaries.

District III - Connelly, Nelsen, Andrea, Meadows, and Akron

District IV - Breckenridge, Sunnyside, West/East Brandrup, and West/East Campbell

The office of SWCD Supervisor is a four-year term.  Candidates are elected in the general election.  An election of Supervisors for the Wilkin SWCD is held every two years, and the seats are filled with a 4-year term.  A Supervisor shall hold office until his or her successor has been elected or qualified.  The office of the Supervisor is a nonpartisan office, and each supervisor represents the entire district.  Currently, Wilkin SWCD Supervisors are elected at-large – meaning that all eligible voters throughout Wilkin County are able to vote for the open positions.

Board Meetings & Compensation

The Wilkin SWCD Board of Supervisors meets the second Wednesday each month at 7:00 a.m. (April - October) and 8:00 a.m. (November - March) in the Wilkin SWCD office located within the USDA Service Center in Breckenridge.  Supervisors receive a per diem for Board meetings, which is currently $125 per meeting.  They are also reimbursed for mileage and any expenses related to the Supervisor position.

How and when can I file for the SWCD Supervisor position?

Who is eligible to file for the Supervisor positions?

Any eligible voter residing in the nomination district of the current vacancy.

What happens if I win the election?
